Wow, it’s been a while since I’ve contributed a recipe to Camden News. In my defense, I’ve been crazy busy... and I have a new book out, as a result!

With corn season upon us, my husband and I are heavy into “Low Country Boil” time. This southern dish can be done so many ways — we never do two exactly the same. It can be a quick and easy meal for two, or the basis for a great cookout party with friends.  Add it can be a frugal, thrifty thing…or as extravagant as you want.

To drive to my hometown — where I was born and raised — takes just 7 or 8 hours. Even still, I‘m constantly surprised at how “new” things can be, living here — as an immigrant. The border may not be that far away, but wow…some things are so very different. Whether regional or national, it’s been interesting to learn about these differences — a lot of the time, they’re something that’s just slightly different, in a way I never would have considered.

April showers may bring May flowers, but May brings... the anniversary of our tornado. It’s hard to wrap my head around the fact that it’s been a year since that day.  So much work, stress and strife since that day, but on the other hand, I still remember it like it was yesterday...
