A Show Tune Sing-Along
06/01/2009
You're invited to a big FUNdraising party for music scholarships at Camden Music School (CMS). It's a Show Tune Sing-Along led by the talented and delightful sing-along maestros Dan Chouinard and Ann Reed, 7 p.m., Friday, June 19 at the Camden home of CMS, Luther Memorial Lutheran Church, 3751 Sheridan Ave.
Terrific singer, amazing songwriter, and darned good guitar player, Ann Reed has had devoted fans lining up at the box office for more than a quarter-century. Television and radio appearances include Good Morning America and A Prairie Home Companion. Pianist, accordionist and occasional storyteller Dan Chouinard regularly creates special programs that blend storytelling, interview and music, many of these for Minnesota Public Radio.
All singing styles and abilities are welcome! You can come to listen or hum, to sing softly or with great gusto. For your singing pleasure song lyrics will be projected. If you have a show tune you'd like everyone to sing, submit your song selection with a short explanation of why it's special at www.camdenmusicschool.com. If you come dressed as your favorite show tune character, you'll most certainly be recognized and may win a prize!
The Sing-Along FUNdraiser Committee's goal is to fill the space with 200 or more voices. Join us. Tell friends and neighbors. Let's raise the roof and needed scholarship dollars! Advance tickets are $10, $5 for children 10 and under. Advance ticket orders must be received by 5 p.m., June 18. Tickets at the door are $12 for all ages. There are also group specials. Order tickets at www.camdenmusicschool.com or 612-529-2317.
The event is a sponsored project of Our Neighborhood Works. Tickets and donations are tax deductible. Proceeds from the sing-along go to CMS scholarships;10 percent of CMS students are on scholarship each term. These students simply would not be able to study music were it not for the generous support of neighbors and friends who contribute to the CMS Scholarship Fund.
