Arts - Building a Bridge of Dreams - Building a Bridge of Dreams in Webber Park for future generations

    North Minneapolis welcomes more public art to the already rich diversity found within our parks and neighborhoods. Artist Christopher Harrison is completing a new public art project entitled The Bridge of Dreams. Harrison aims to revitalize the spirit of North Minneapolis with this ongoing project for generations to come.

    The Bridge of Dreams showcases community members’ dreams and wishes in Webber Park. The idea of the bridge project is that more than one generation of community members can come to share dreams and wishes. The bridge, as it stands, reflects the first generation of wishes and dreams newly created by Harrison and key members of the community. Colors used on the bridge are not only bold, but create the wishes and dreams as a powerful message making a new resource for inspiration found in the heart of North Minneapolis. 

    Harrison, a Northside resident for over 10 years, experiences the community in a way not publicized by the media. He sees North Minneapolis as a “prosperous, fast-growing, multicultural community, filled with caring, hardworking people who have healthy families and live well-adjusted lives.”

    Harrison’s vision is to provide Northside residents an area that reflects the personality and vitality of the neighborhoods that the community can adopt and enjoy for many years to come. The bridge will “serve as a reminder to have pride and respect among others and ourselves as we go forward in our lives.”
