A tribute to legendary musician Jeanne Arland Peterson
04/01/2009
Minnesota jazz legend Jeanne Arland Peterson, known for her stellar career performing on radio, television and onstage, will be honored in the fourth concert of the Legends season at the Capri Theater 3 p.m., Sunday, April 19. In addition to Jeanne's solo performances at the piano, she will be joined onstage by her daughter Patty Peterson (who hosts the show), as well as by guest vocalists including Debbie Duncan, Arne Fogel and Maud Hixon.
For more than four decades, audiences worldwide have been thrilled, entertained and blessed by Jeanne Arland Peterson's creativity. Jeanne stands as a legend not only to her extremely talented children and grandchildren, but many other well-established musicians such as Al Jarreau, Bobby Caldwell, Prince and Oleta Adams who have been directly or indirectly impacted by her gifts.
Jeanne, pianist extraordinaire, was a child prodigy. She began to play chords and melody on the piano at the age of three. Eventually, her talent and experience cumulated at WCCO radio station where she was staff vocalist and pianist for 22 years.
She was inducted into the Minnesota Music Hall of Fame in 1992, and was the recipient of the Midwest Jazz Masters Award in 1997. A special reception honoring Jeanne will follow the concert at the Plymouth Christian Youth Center (across the parking lot at 2210 Oliver Avenue North). Music will be provided by Wolverines jazz pianist Rick Carlson. Tickets are $25 (or $20 for groups of 10 or more). Order through Uptown Tix at 651-209-6799 or thecapritheater.org. The Legends series at the Capri Theater is presented by the Plymouth Christian Youth Center.
