Second Saturdays presents...Leslie Ball
By: Staff 04/01/2007
Leslie Ball has performed around the country – from opening for Ellen Degeneres at the old Guthrie Theater, to appearing in the world premiere of The Falls at the new Guthrie, to singing back-up for the late Gene Pitney at Carnegie Hall.
Camden Music School welcomes Leslie to the Second Saturdays stage on Saturday, April 14, from 3-4 p.m. at Luther Memorial Lutheran Church, 3751 Sheridan Avenue N. The event is free and open to the public.
Leslie’s first solo recording earned her a Minnesota Music Award for best female songwriter. In 1991, Leslie launched BALLS Cabaret, a weekly experimental stage for artists of any discipline or experience. The show is in its 16th year and continually wins awards as the best open stage in town. BALLS was also recently cited in the New York Times as a “must-see” while in the Twin Cities. In addition to her work as an artist, Leslie is an activist and educator. She spent a decade in the public schools teaching teenagers in recovery from addiction. She earned her MFA at NYU and is currently pursuing a Master of Divinity Degree at United Theological Seminary. The hour-long concert follows with a reception of good cookies, coffee and conversation. More info at www.camdenmusicschool.com or 612-618-0219.
