Second Saturdays goes green!

Wonderful spring music, flowers, hanging baskets and a master gardener! That's what you'll find at the CMS Second Saturdays concert on Saturday, May 9 from 4-5 p.m. at Luther Memorial Lutheran Church, 3751 Sheridan.
The music will be performed by Pavia Winds, a woodwind quintet featuring Camden neighbor Justin Windschitl on bassoon, flutist Emily Sapa, oboeist Sarah Carmack, Gina Monge on French horn, and Ryan Golden on clarinet.
The program includes Summer Music by Samuel Barber (one of the most amazing pieces in the woodwind quintet repertoire), La Nouvelle Orleans by Lalo Schifrin (you'll hear a lot of New Orleans jazz influence in this piece) and Dance Suite by Norman Hallam (in four movements: Waltz, Bossa Nova, Quickstep, Charleston - great fun!).
We'll also help you get in the swing of spring with flowers, seed packets, a hanging basket give-away or two, and advice from a master gardener who will answer all your spring gardening questions during the reception immediately following the concert. Coffee, cookies and good conversation will be served.
And...dig this: In support of our green concert, 15 percent of your purchases made at Malmborg's Garden Center on Monday, May 11 from 5-8 p.m. will go to the CMS scholarship fund. You must bring the special Malmborg's fundraiser shopper form to receive the 15 percent credit. Get the form at www.camdenmusicschool.com or 612-618-0219.
This is a free concert, though donations will be accepted for the CMS Scholarship Fund, a sponsored project of Our Neighborhood Works. Papa's Restaurant & Deli will also accept scholarship donations on May 9 - so be sure to stop by before or after the concert. Bring your whole family (all Second Saturdays concerts are kid-friendly) and invite neighbors and friends to celebrate spring with Camden Music School!
