By: Jaette Carpenter 05/01/2013
Come celebrate the history of North Minneapolis with Hopewel Music Cooperative North, Camden Care Center and the Camden Historical Society during Swingin’ Memories on Saturday, May 18 at 1 p.m., hosted by Camden Care Center at 512 49th Ave. N.
At this celebration will be sights, smells and music from the ‘30s through the ‘50s. The Hopewell Community Choir and friends will be singing tunes from those eras accompanied by guitars, piano and ukulele; there will be a gallery of portraits on North Minneapolis courtesy of the Camden Historical Society; personal photos and stories of the neighborhood from residents of Camden Care Center; and historical costumes and designs provided by Sarah Bissonette. Food recipes first introduced during the era will be served by Camden Care Center including M&M’s which were invented in 1941. Be sure to grab your friends, family members and neighbors and learn the history of the neighborhood by those who created it!
