Camden Music School -The second five years
By: Janet Zahn 09/01/2010
Camden Music School (CMS) has enjoyed a wonderful five-year journey with the neighborhoods we serve, from opening our doors to 15 students in January 2005, to welcoming nearly 200 students through the door this past spring, to our wonderful summer of lessons and camps including "Monkey Mind Pirates" and "Camp Komoniwannarock."
As we turn the corner to "Camden Music School: The Second Five Years" we are making some exciting changes this fall. Our intention is to be the best music school we can be - for years to come.
We have invested in a new, web-based registration and administration system with benefits for all. This new system, developed by Active Network, Inc. in concert with several major music schools across the country, will streamline CMS' billing process, give customers more payment options, help facilitate communication between teachers and students, and keep the business side of CMS running smoothly and efficiently.
CMS has added a part-time staff person in the office. David DeGennaro is the new office assistant (or co-conspirator, as we prefer to call him) and is the point person on the new registration system. Dave is CMS' drum set teacher as well.
We also continue to develop new ways to get the word out about our school. You may have noticed the CMS yard signs in your neighborhood. (If you'd like a sign for your yard, call 612-618-0219.) If you're a Facebook fan, you know that CMS has posted some cool videos of some great CMS musical performances, among other items of interest.
There's more to come, but as we make changes, move and grow, our mission stays the same: "... to bring people of all ages together to hear and learn about music, to experience the inspiration and joy music brings to the mind and soul, and to strengthen the sense of community in the neighborhoods we serve."
Thanks to the Camden community for your support these last five years.
