The Voice of Tim Mahoney is coming to Live on the Drive, Thursday, July 12 from 6-8 p.m. The free concert takes place on Victory Memorial Drive at 34th Ave. N., one of the most beautiful concert settings in the city.
Mahoney got his start with the pop/rock band, the Blue Meanies, and has since released a series of solo CDs. He may be most well known, though, for his appearance on the first season of NBC’s The Voice where he was coached by Maroon 5’s Adam Levine. “I think Adam Levine is great. He was my first choice as a coach, even if he wasn’t the only one who turned his chair around,” said Mahoney.
Come hear Mahoney’s distinct voice and music – and experience a great night in the neighborhood. Concert-goers describe it best: “Unity, fellowship, collective laughter, many conversations…This is something I can brag about in my neighborhood.” “It’s free, everyone’s out and we mingle. Great music and variety. We’re so lucky.” “Music, nature, children, dancing!”
Live on the Drive turns five this summer thanks to the support of many people, organizations and businesses. The event this year is presented by founding partner, North Memorial, with the Cleveland Neighborhood Association, the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board, North End Hardware and The Lowry Café, Camden Music School, NorthNews, Camden Pet Hospital, The Capri Theater, Washburn McReavy, Emily’s F&M Café, Metropolitan Regional Arts Council, and the Webber-Camden, Victory and Folwell neighborhoods. (Sponsors to date.) This activity is funded, in part, by appropriations from the Minnesota State Legislature with money from the State’s general fund, and its arts and cultural heritage fund that was created by a vote of the people of Minnesota on November 4, 2008.
Be sure to pack a picnic, invite your neighbors, bring your friends and walk or roll to the concert. For info call 612-588-1155 or visit www.liveonthedrive.org.
