Workhouse Theater Begins New Season
09/01/2010
The Workhouse Theatre Company has been hard at work planning for the future of live theater on the Northside. Their seventh season brings exciting changes and new developments.
Workhouse Theatre Company founder, Jeff Redman, moves on from his role as artistic director. Jeff and Jenni Redman recently launched their newest theatrical venture, New Actor's Playhouse, an educational theatre camp for elementary school students.
Workhouse's new artistic director is director, actor, playwright, and Northside resident Cristopher Tibbetts - no stranger to Workhouse audiences. He directed Redman in the sold-out House in the 2006-07 season, and is directing No Exit, and teaching the adult education series. "I am honored and excited to be leading the efforts of this extraordinary company," Tibbetts said. Mark Webb remains Workhouse's Managing Director and resident lighting designer. Tibbetts and Webb are eager to build upon the strong support from Workhouse fans, and hope to hear from you soon about how you want to see the company move forward. They are currently working on recruiting new board members and recently unveiled Workhouse's 2010-11 season.
Coming up is Proof by David Auburn on October 7-24. This haunting, Pulitzer Prize winner tells the story of Catherine, a troubled young girl walking the fine line between genius and madness in her quest to move from the shadow of her brilliant father and domineering sister, and into the possibility of love and identity on her own terms.
