Workhouse to take hiatus
07/01/2012
The Workhouse Theatre Company is currently undergoing an exciting transition. In order for them to continue bringing you the quality productions you have come to expect, they have collectively decided that they need to build and strengthen the core of the organization. In pursuit of these goals, they will take a hiatus to reorganize and revitalize. They have already recruited several new board members, and will be announcing their new artistic director in mid-July.
They have canceled their production of Dog Sees God and will close their current season with Matthew Everett’s But Not For Love; a co-production with The Flower Shop Project, opening at The Warren-An Artist Habitat, October 12-28.
But Not For Love synopsis: A double wedding. Two couples - one straight, one gay - divided over what their ceremony should mean to themselves or anyone else. A lovelorn lady minister who has a secret of her own. A policeman torn between the picket line outside the church and the ceremony he’s obliged to protect. A protester with ties to the bride and the grooms, who’s willing to throw rocks through stained glass windows to keep the vows from taking place.
