Second Saturdays presents ... composer, singer, guitarist Gary Rue
By: Staff 05/01/2007
Camden Music School proudly presents composer, singer and guitarist, Gary Rue on Saturday, May 12 from 3-4 p.m. at Luther Memorial Lutheran Church, 3751 Sheridan Avenue N.
Gary Rue has been playing and writing music since February of 1964 when he saw the Beatles on The Ed Sullivan Show. In 1981, he began writing seriously for the stage and has since composed 50 musical theater pieces, many for the SteppingStone Theater for Youth Development in St. Paul. The Stinky Cheese Man, a piece he co-wrote with Kent Stephens, is currently touring nationally with The Dallas Children’s Theater.
Rue’s music has been acclaimed by The Star Tribune: “…graceful, plaintive melodies. Gary’s music is…very melodic, very beautiful.” The Bay Area Express: “…vibrant, catchy, exciting melodies.” And City Pages: “…trades on a good sense of how to make the subtleties count.” You, too, will be delighted by Gary’s music - and his sense of humor. Take time out from your busy schedule and be entertained! You’ll be glad you did.
The hour-long concert will be followed by a reception featuring good cookies, coffee and conversation. The event is free and open to the public. Donations will also be accepted for the Camden Music School Scholarship Fund, a sponsored project of Our Neighborhood Works.
