Mobilize Design & Architecture has a new home in the Juxtaposition Arts co-op at 1108 W. Broadway. The firm, founded by Jamil Ford, lifelong Northside resident and North High graduate, provides architecture, design, community engagement and planning services to diverse communities. “We felt it was important that the firm find a home in the heart of the Northside,” says Jamil, “Our focus is to bring quality architectural services to the local community.” Mobilize Design & Architecture is committed to revitalization efforts in North Minneapolis, by reaching out to nonprofit and forprofit groups working in the area and supporting them with design services that will benefit the community. Partnering with Jamil in Mobilize Design & Architecture is David Witt, a Victory neighborhood resident. David brings 28 years of experience in the architecture profession. Current projects for Mobilize Design & Architecture include the proposed Commons at Penn Ave., a multi-family housing project being developed by Building Blocks, a Northside nonprofit developer. They are also working with Berean Missionary Baptist Church on their remodeling project and are working with the Hawthorne Neighborhood Council on a study for 26th Ave. Bikeway/Greenway. Prior to starting Mobilize Design & Architecture Jamil and David were key members of the team that designed the 1200 W. Broadway building and the Five Points building at Penn and W. Broadway.
