Local real estate agent Stephanie Gruver with RE/MAX Results is showcasing her client’s homes on the Affordable Home Tour® September 7-8 sponsored by Wells Fargo. The tour is both days from noon to 5 p.m. Stephanie has five or more of the homes she has listed featured on the tour — unless, of course, they sell before the tour! Gruver says, “Wells Fargo has generously donated $6.3 million to NeighborWorks, who will be distributing down payment assistance grants of up to $15,000 to qualified owner-occupant buyers to purchase homes in Minneapolis and St. Paul. The goal of the Affordable Home Tour is to help these buyers see what is currently available for homes. I’d like to see North get a lot of those buyers, so I’m investing in the process by participating in the tour.” Info:  www.stephaniegruver.com for a link to the tour.

Epic Masonry is a local family owned business providing quality masonry restoration. Most Camden homes were built before 1939 and the repeated impact of our infamous Minnesota winters have taken a toll. The effects of the freeze-thaw process on masonry is severe: Deteriorating brick and stone, crumbling mortar joints, water infiltration, foundation cracking. Epic Masonry is dedicated to maintaining the beauty, structural integrity and value of your property. Owner/operator Robert Weatherup has been honing his craft for 12 years. “Preserve, Protect, Restore” is the focus. Epic Masonry provides tuckpointing, brick, block and stone replacement, caulking, foundation and concrete repair, waterproofing, green chemical cleaning and custom artistic projects. Camden residents are already familiar with the expertise of this local company and have benefited from the satisfying experience of doing business with Epic. The company is offering a 10 percent discount for projects scheduled this year. Available anytime are free estimates, consultations and senior discounts for residential projects. Contact Robert Weatherup at 612-369-157.

The Goddess of Glass & Friends on Penn and Lowry, owned by Connie Becker, was named number 14 of the top 25 GLBT owned businesses by the Twin Cities Business Journal in July. Connie says, “They did a list of Twin Cities businesses in a variety of categories including Diversity, and they did a list of the top 25 GLBT owned businesses, and based on the number of people I employ, I rank #14 with six! Huzzah!”

Congratulations to Emily’s F & M Café at 2124 – 44th Ave. N., which is celebrating their 30th anniversary this year. This family restaurant is well known for their great breakfasts as well as Emily’s homemade spaghetti sauce.
