NWMBA Supports Camden Business Scoops
12/01/2010
Good things are happening at Vitalife Pharmacy Rx on Fremont and 42nd. Vitalife is participating in the City of Minneapolis' Healthy Corner Store initiative. The program supports store owners in making fresh produce and healthy foods more visible, affordable and attractive to neighborhood residents. VitaLife is the first store in the program to complete this process, and they had a grand re-opening event on October 25. There was a live cooking demonstration and taste-testing of healthy foods. The corner store transformation process includes: connecting stores to a produce distributor, developing a financial system to help track and monitor sales of healthy food, remodeling the store to display fresh foods, and finally engaging the community with a grand re-opening event for each store. Pictured is Camden resident Bill Moore trying out some of the healthy, tasty food. Photo by Randy Klauk.
