Think Global, Shop Local! You can save money, gas, time and be "green" just by shopping in your own neighborhood. Find out about all of the great businesses just around the corner in the NorthWest Minneapolis Business Association Directory. Pick up a copy at a local business or call 612-703-9609. You can also find it at www.nwmplsbusiness.com.
After a long cold winter, spring has finally arrived. What could be better? How about new businesses in the neighborhood! Last month, we reported that Vitalife Rx was expanding. We are happy to report that they are opening their new store in the old Snyder's location at 42nd and Fremont Ave. on March 31. (See their Grand Opening announcement and contest giveaway details on page 3.) Once again you will be able to shop at a local, independently owned pharmacy for all of your prescription and convenience store needs. The Webber Parkway location will continue to fill prescriptions as before, but all other retail items will be available at the new location.
Looking for a little financial guidance? Redemptive Financial at 4167 Lyndale Ave. (above the old Doc's Gym location) has "services you can live with..." For an appointment to discuss your insurance needs contact Dennis O'Connell Jr. at 651-339-7777, for non-mortgage debt counseling or bookkeeping, contact Cheryl Anderson at 612-669-3313. Cheryl is a longtime resident of the Victory neighborhood. They have offices in both Camden and in White Bear Lake.
It's been dark at 2203 44th Ave. North since Sauced closed its doors last month. Fortunately, it did not take long for partners Rick Harpham and Bob Smith to takeover and reopen it as 44 Degrees. With their love of the restaurant business and decades of experience, Rick and Bob are excited to open a place that focuses on the neighborhood. They are starting with a great menu, which eventually will be full of local favorites. They plan to have plenty of weekly specials. Look for a buffet brunch, grilled prime rib specials and live jazz on the weekends. Don't forget the great outdoor patio too! So stop in, check out the great food and welcome Rick and Bob to Camden. 44 Degrees is open Tuesday-Thursday 11 a.m.-9 p.m., Saturday 9 a.m.-11 p.m., and Sunday 9 a.m.-9 p.m., and closed on Monday. (612-588-2600)
With the warmer weather ahead, take a walk in your neighborhood. It's time to take a fresh look at Camden and see what's new, and to support our longtime loyal businesses.
