Guilded Salvage Antiques opened April 24 in the old Machine Specialties warehouse at 4430 Lyndale Avenue North. Guilded Salvage has been in business for almost nine years, salvaging and selling architectural items such as light fixtures, doors and hardware, kitchen cabinets, buffets, bathtubs and room dividers, etc. They primarily deal in materials from before 1940, and mostly they salvage buildings locally.
Owned and operated by Scott Rogers and Christina Dodge, Guilded Salvage just moved from its former Northeast Minneapolis home. The move represents a homecoming for Scott, he grew up in North Minneapolis and remembers biking, fishing and playing on the riverbank as a kid.
Scott has worked in the field for over 20 years and does almost all the salvaging (Christina says he has a good eye for what to save!) and Christina does the store displays and they are fun to look at even if you’re not looking for something specific. The team at Guilded Salvage Antiques is known for their light fixtures and hardware — quantity, quality and knowledge — and for being friendly and helpful. Customers are encouraged to ask questions or to bring in a piece they’re trying to match; Christina and Scott enjoy getting creative! Another aspect to the business is prop rental for local films, photo shoots, and theater; and artists sometimes find good “junk” to incorporate into their sculptures or work spaces.
