By: Amy Luesebrink 09/01/2014
e have jam-packed this year’s Mississippi Riverfest and Heritage
Day event with all sorts of river activities, games and historical connections,
you won’t want to miss it this year—-on Saturday, September 13, 1-4:30 p.m. at
Carl Kroening Interpretive Center, 4900 Mississippi Court N!
We’re excited to have our local, exceptional Jacques the Voyager,
a French fur trader and river voyageur whose adventurous tales and artifacts of
his trading and river journeys will enthrall adventurers of all ages! Come and hear
interpretive stories and touch artifacts from Ojibwa expert Mercedes Tuma
Hansen.
This year at the
Haybale stage, will be the Z Puppets Rosenschnoz at 2 p.m. They are an
award-winning Minneapolis puppet company known for imaginative, family-friendly
performances. They will be performing “The Comical Misadventures of Mr. Punch,”
which is a madcap call and response hand puppet romp. When the Baby goes
missing, Mr. Punch sets out to the rescue — unleashing mischief and mayhem all
the way. Tangling with a crocodile, a policeman and the devil himself, Mr.
Punch presents a travesty of manners in which the children must keep the
puppets from misbehaving and the Baby triumphs in the end.
