On April 17, 2007 Richard Christianson and Michael Trinity were killed in a double homicide in the Lind Bohanon neighborhood. Mattea Thurman, who was present during the murders, was certified as an adult and pled guilty in November to aiding an offender. Thurman is currently scheduled to be sentenced on March 4. One of the three involved with the murders, Deonsae Guilmont, was found guilty of aiding and abetting the shooter in the commission of the murders and was sentenced in December by Judge Nordby to 150 months (12.5 years); 75 months for each of the victims, to be served consecutively with the possibility of parole. The maximum possible sentence was 300 months.
Dontaro Riddley, the alleged shooter of the two victims, will go to trial on February 19 for two first degree murder charges. The maximum possible sentence is life in prison. As with every case there is an opportunity for any resident to give a community impact statement regarding how an incident has affected one’s life and community prior to sentencing.
At the conclusion of Riddley’s trial, if found guilty and prior to the sentencing, interested residents are encouraged to file a community impact statement. For information contact the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office, Victim Witness Advocate Lisa Eder at 612-348-7814 or lisa.eder@co.hennepin.mn.us
