Run for fun

Folks came out to run at the Northside 5K Street Race and S.W.A.T. Trot, and to celebrate at the Minneapolis Police Department’s Special Operations Center Open House on May 19. The event was sponsored by Webber Camden Neighborhood Association to welcome the arrival of the new Special Operations Center at 42nd and Dupont (former Hamilton School site). Open house activities included free food, music, balloons, face painting, tours of the facility, public safety equipment (bomb squad, fire trucks, squad cars) and demonstrations by the MPD Canine and Mounted Horse Patrol. The Swat Team repelled from the building, the Bomb Squad and others demonstrated public safety techniques, and, the Police Activities League (PAL) held a garage sale.
