Solutions Twin Cities Volume 4 Showcases Community Changemakers
03/16/2011
Solutions Twin Cities Volume 4 is the fourth in a series of events that features people and projects working to make the Twin Cities a better place to live. Solutions Twin Cities is a roving event series where each installment takes place at a different venue in a different part of tour metro area. The next event on Friday, March 18 takes place at the historic Capri Theater in North Minneapolis. This event is in partnership with the Northside Resident Redevelopment Council. They have been a fantastic liaison to the Northside community. One of the 10 presenters, Amoke Kubat, is a Northside resident and community elder. After the event is a "Northside Info Shop" where community nonprofits and organizations will provide materials and connect with the audience.
The event itself is an entertaining and educational evening of short, inspiring presentations. You'll encounter surprising stories of community-based innovation from a cross-section of emerging and established leaders. Solutions Twin Cities Volumne 4, the latest in the series of Solutions Twin Cities events designed and presented by Works Progress, aims to spotlight this eclectic array of creative ideas and people while providing a unique opportunity for the community to connect. Since 2007 Solutions Twin Cities has facilitated presentations by an expansive array of individuals - from artists to economists, scientists to urban planners, and community organizers to entrepreneurs.
This event features: Amoke Kubat - Founder, The Mothering Mothers Institute; Daniel Klein - Founder & Host, The Perennial Plate; Hamilton Bell - Program Director, St. Paul Promise Neighborhood; Joseph Adamji & Students - Kitty Andersen Youth Science Center; Laura Zabel - Director, Springboard for the Arts; Matt Olson - Co-founder, ROLU; Mirelle Zacharis - Co-curator & Artist, No Assumption; Scotty Reynolds & Mixed Precipitation; and Virajita Singh - Senior Research Fellow, Center for Sustainable Building Research.
The group behind Solutions Twin Cities Volume 4, the arts collaborative Works Progress, hope that this event will help to spread the word about some of our local innovators and their world-changing ideas. Works Progress also hopes that Solutions Volume 4 will inspire people in the Twin Cities and beyond to get involved in actively shaping their world.
