Change the landscape
By: Peter Wilson 11/01/2013
One thing that we know is coming to Minneapolis is change to the political landscape this fall. We will have a new mayor and early indications are that there may be several new city council members. This offers the opportunity for new, innovative, reasonable solutions to the challenges that our city faces. With new leadership, new ideas and forward thinking we can address issues and maintain the great city we are all so proud to call our home.
We in the 4th Ward have a particular challenge. One family has controlled this seat for over four decades. That is why I am joining many of my neighbors in supporting Kris Brogan to replace the present council person. Kris has a sharp mind that looks for solutions. She has the experience to hit the ground running. We need to only look around the ward to realize that where there used to be small businesses we now have vacant commercial property and vacant commercial lots. The intersections on Thomas Ave., the northern end of Lyndale, Lowry, Dowling and 44th all used to have businesses that supported the local economy and added to the tax base. Where have they gone and why has there not been leadership to bring something to these spaces? Our library at Webber Park is closed and who knows when we have a pool for our children to swim in again.
For Kris to be successful we need your help and that is why I am asking you to support Kris. Kris is running a grassroots campaign from the bottom up. I urge you to vote for Kris Brogan in the November election. You must vote for your voice to be heard.
